The Kumlinge battle

During the finnish war 1808-09 the "Kumlinge battle" took place when local farmers resisted to hand out regular provisions to the russian military. Some hundred farmers beat the russian troops and took prisoners at Kumlinge parsonage, thus fortifying their loyalty to the Swedish king. In memory of this, a memorial stone was erected at the Fälberget.

Robert Liewendahl wrote a stage play about the Kumlinge battle, which was performed here by local amateur actors in 2006.
